I said I wouldn't do a red or pink Valentine's Day look. I made a big deal out of it. All about how I'd do something that my boyfriend would particularly like, and that it wouldn't be red, or pink, or have hearts on, just because it was Valentine's Day, because that whole thing is stupid.
And it is stupid. Buying your partner a heart-shaped gift for Valentine's Day is stupid. You're supposed to be showing them you love them, individually, not just representing love in general. Who actually buys heart-shaped velvet cushions? Who? Someone must, because they make them and sell them every year. Does anyone like those? Does anyone's girlfriend or boyfriend secretly yearn for anatomically-ridiculous heart shaped pillows?
So, there I was, up on my high horse, enjoying all the superiority that comes with questioning the status quo, and I asked Jordan what kind of look he'd like me to do for Valentine's, seeing as I'd previously determined to do something he liked.
And he said red. Of course. Bastard.
So, here it is. No tutorial this time, because I'll be doing a step-by-step photo tutorial at some point in the future for this look, since Phyrra requested one (you guys can do that, you know) and the full-face pictures looked ridiculous because my hair decided to be a jerk, so I'll get to do it over again.

- MAC Painterly Paint Pot
- Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy
- Aromaleigh Rocks! Sonic eyeshadow in Tempted
- Aromaleigh Rocks! Sonic eyeshadow in Helter-Skelter
- Aromaleigh Gothic Lolita eyeshadow in Velvet Dream
- Aromaleigh Elemental Lustre eyeshadow in Torment
- Aromaleigh Les Papillons eyeshadow in Crimson Mimicry
- Aromaleigh Bete Noir glitter in Carmilla
- Urban Decay 24/7 Liner in Zero
- Urban Decay Eyelash Primer
- Bourjois Liner Effect Mascara
It actually looked really nice on, so I'm glad I'll get to redo it when my hair is being less lame. Okay, so his suggestion wasn't all bad. Grumble.

16 February 2010 20:45Yaaay!! I totally agree with your views!
16 February 2010 21:07And your eyeshadow/EOTD is so sexy I think I just peed myself a lil'.
In my defense, I was completely oblivious to her plans not to do red.
16 February 2010 21:11*Whistles innocently*
But hey, it turned out beautiful (all of it, since I -have- seen it full face), and it's her first red look, too!
That's gorgeous! If Phyrra hadn't already requested a tutorial I would have. Absolutely amazing. I have got to get my hands on more red eyeshadow, I love it.
16 February 2010 21:20Geez, Ana, there's nothing you don't look good in, is there! I hope you two had a wonderful commercial love giving not really real holiday! You deserve it!
16 February 2010 22:13more people need to wear bright red eyeshadow! It's been my favorite for years <3 awesome awesome!
16 February 2010 22:19Just one word -- wow !
16 February 2010 22:30damnit damnit damnit. *adds all that to wish list*
16 February 2010 22:49Oooooh, shiny (Firefly shiny, not shiny as in bright or reflective)...can't wait for the tutorial.
16 February 2010 23:10Oooooh, shiny (Firefly shiny, not shiny as in bright or reflective)...can't wait for the tutorial.
16 February 2010 23:10You make me wish I could rock the red like you do!
16 February 2010 23:21I shamelessly bought a velvet heart-shaped cushion. Oh yes I did. Two years in a row now.
16 February 2010 23:52This look is seriously hot.
Gorgeous look!
17 February 2010 00:35And ... umm... i feel a bit silly now, but i actually have bought myself several heart shaped red velvet cushions. I actually collect things with hearts on them or in heart shapes :P
Love the look! I love reds and I adore AL red colors *-*
17 February 2010 01:03When it's valentines I just go out with my boyfriend. We do give each other gifts but only on anniversaries...
Last time he made me a lovely card and I made us out of cold porcelain!
*-*
Gorgeous! I wish my eyes looked that good in red.
17 February 2010 01:19Thanks Phyrra <3 You were rather vocal about it, haha. I was nervous when I did it, since I don't know if red suits me or not.
17 February 2010 02:56Rofl Jules! That was very uhm, empathic. Thanks! Tempted is a reeeeaaally gorgeous matte red, very very bright and clear.
17 February 2010 02:57Thank you, Geeky :3 That's a heck of a compliment, if slightly gross.
17 February 2010 02:57Pfft. Yeah, right. YOU KNEW. You stalk my Twitter, of cooouuurse you knew. And you'd think I looked pretty if I rubbed mud on my face, Jordan :p
17 February 2010 02:57Juliannelefay, thank you! When I do the tutorial I'll have to swatch all the individual colours, too. Actually, I've been meaning to just swatch all my reds.
17 February 2010 02:57Thanks Jessica! There is, though. Brown! I look rubbish in brown. I'm not sure how the red looked, overall, but I liked it 'cause it was Sith-y.
17 February 2010 02:57Bhevarri, I don't really get the 'quest for the perfect red' like a lot of girls, I think because my hair usually has red tones to it, so I've avoided red eyeshadow. But maybe I'm a convert, now ;D
17 February 2010 02:57MartianDelights - <3 Thank youuu.
17 February 2010 02:57CthuLynny, crap! I still need to swatch/sample up my reds. Although most of these were Aromaleigh samples that are too small to split without being ridiculous (1/32th a tsp anyone?) you'll probably want Tempted, I can send some Helter-Skelter, and Torment isn't bright but it's a lovely red-toned russet metallic.
17 February 2010 02:57Ella - Thank you! I'll try not to delay it too long ^^
17 February 2010 02:58Janet, awwh, I'm sure you can. I think everyone can wear every colour, really, provided you pick the right shade.
17 February 2010 02:58Simone, rofl. I think it's not so bad if you're buying them for yourself, weird if you're buying them for a partner.
17 February 2010 02:58Lillian, ahaha! Okay, well if you collect heart things I guess that's okay. As long as it's not a Valentine's gift.
17 February 2010 02:58Cacau, thank you! Awwh, that's so sweet. I want to see! I didn't know you sculpted.
17 February 2010 02:58Michelle, I guess I have quite a universal shade of brown? I happen to think red looks best on brunettes or blondes, but as I'm sort of purpley-red I don't know how it looks overall.
17 February 2010 02:58Stop being awesome in every color. Seriously.
17 February 2010 03:01I love the red. For some reason, I rarely see red eyeshadow looks, even in EOTDs, which aren't looks I think should necessarily be work-safe.
/clap
More people need to do red EOTDs ;D
17 February 2010 03:54No need to do that hun, just make a list and send it to me. Then I will slowly but surely collect them all.
17 February 2010 05:13Ivebeen such a slacker lately, plus Im about to set my damnable computer on fire. Maybe I ought to do an arson tutorial :)
The red is gorgeous, and your blending is excellent. :)
17 February 2010 05:59my jaws dropped! this is gorgeous!!!!! Creative and genius!
17 February 2010 06:45Eff off, you.. totally gorgeous-looking bastard. I'm being very jealous to you, you know and I might sulk for a while. And drool on the screen because you still look sexy. Damn it.
17 February 2010 06:53Oh, this is just gorgeous! Friggin heck, saving for inspiration!
17 February 2010 06:55Oooo! I really love that look! Unfortunately I don't have any of the products (eyeshadows) you used and haven't seen that nice reds/glitters so could try that with them.
17 February 2010 11:21This look is so well put together. The colours are perfect!
17 February 2010 15:52Wow, this is gorgeous! You look great in red. Actually, you look fab in any color!
17 February 2010 18:33Can't wait for the tutorial.
