And We Shall Call It This Land.

I'm late, I'm late, for a very important date...

Sorry for the 'net absence! I've been under the weather for a few days, and feeling generally *ugh* so I missed the Friday deadline for the Pixie Epoxy contest. 'Cause of that, I'm allowing everyone's entries up to, well, this post, now.

Contest to name this fuzzy fella.

The response was overwhelming. Over 150 comments, it made me wish I had a ton more samples - I thought about just buying 20 or so, but the shipping cost of sending them out, generally overseas, would amount to more than I can afford. I thought everyone's suggestions were great, from the bizarre to the very well researched, so narrowing it down to 5 was really hard.

Nevertheless, I said I'd do it, so the five winners are...

Kyuubified - "Galileo"

Her Chefness - "Schrödinger"

RayJBady - "Lyra"

Kirsty - "Topher"

Abbey - "Cabal"

I either really liked the thought behind it, or the sound of it. There were many more that I liked, too, so in the end I had a shortlist and had to exclude names with a random number generator, because I'm not good at making decisions. I also now know what "tiger" is in about seven different languages, go figure.

I actually decided to name the tiger Samus, which no one suggested (sorry!) after Metroid (I know, Samus was a girl, pfft. Tell it to Starbuck) just 'cause I liked the sound, again. But those five people still win an Epoxy sample and whatever else I feel like shoving in envelopes. Please e-mail me at Anastasia@LipsticksAndLightsabers.com with your postal details.

A note on the blog comments. Although the last entry's insane number clearly wasn't any indication of the regular number, you've probably noticed the number of comments per post has shot up lately, and it's becoming increasingly impossible to respond to them all. I read and adore and appreciate every single one - if any of you write your own blogs, you'll know that comments really make a blogger's day. I'll try to always answer direct questions, but I don't think I can keep on replying to them all (and am hideously behind, sorry!). If you have a question about something be it related, unrelated, extensive or a request, it's best to e-mail me to avoid having to dig the answer out of a long comment list. If I've previously missed a question you've asked me, please e-mail it to me and I'll get to it :]

P.S. An extra mystery prize goes out to the first person to comment and correctly identify the reference in this blog post's title ;D

Darn! Wish I had commented first. The title is from Firefly! Can I get extra points by saying it was Wash who said it when he was playing with his little dinos? Just a thought.

Can I get extra points for having made earrings out of dinos because of that scene?

we took Lily to the Natural History Museum last Sunday, and the minute we entered the kids' area w/ toy dinosaurs, Brad grabs them and starts the quotarama (with exactly your title quote!) Of course, I had no choice but to reply.

I discovered today that these amazing cookie/cake things that I've been scarfing down like mad, are basically the American version of Jaffa Cakes.
I feel our two lands have just become closer allies, connected by a "smashing bit" of orangey deliciousness.

Dammit, couldn't order from Fyrinnae the past few days, then I realised that the webshop is shut for changes.

DAMN! I needed me some epoxy, why do I have to find out about shiny ways of shiny eyes after everyone else :/

Awesome blog by the way, just hit upon it by accident on the wow-theme eyes :)
