I'm addicted to Etsy jewelery now, so much colourful, cute, kawaii kitschy costume jewelery. I'm going to share all the little things I got ages ago and forgot to post about, and give each Etsy shop a mini-review. Sorry, some of my photographs are really poor quality.
First up is...
The Fickle Pickle!
Isn't that just the most fantastic Etsy name? I'm not sure what kind of decisions pickles have to make, but this one has a hard time doing it. Fickle Pickle sells tons of adorable Hello Kitty earrings at just $4 a pair, and was first pointed out to me by my reader Jaimi, who has lots of good ideas worth stealing.
I went a little bit insane and bought 4 pairs of Hello Kitty earrings from her, and they arrived in the most adorable little cardboard boxes, with a free pair of earrings and a little set of stickers free, too.
The cutest boxes you ever did see.

Hello Kitty in a little kimono, inside a soup bowl.
Very cute, viewed from another angle, she's leaning against the front.
Little white bunny Hello Kitties.
Because what's cuter than a kitten? A bunny-kitten.

All of her earrings are good quality, not some of the really cheap, badly painted Hello Kitty crap you can find. They arrived super-quick, and I'm thrilled about the whole order, she was really great, and I love that she does so many HK in vegetable earrings, because they're so quirky and unusual.

This seller has the most gorgeous steam-punk type pieces using antique brass, silver filigrees and watch movements. Her prices are between $20-35ish and even then I had a hard time choosing between her stuff, because it was all so gorgeous. I particularly love the lockets, as they're quite chunky and definitely unusual. I've had so many people compliment mine.

Totally stunning Prop Locket, with propeller which actually spins.
You can imagine what I do all day long, now.
This is really beautiful, not only does the propeller spin but that cog you see at the bottom turns, too, and it all opens up into a gorgeous, hefty locket I can put two pictures in. I wear this on a different chain to the one it comes with - there's nothing wrong with the original, but I wanted a really chunky chain, long enough to pull on and off without needing to undo it. I get comments about this constantly when I wear it, and I love it to bits.
Cherry earrings, so dainty and fruity!
These were smaller than I expected, but I actually like that. They're really dainty, elegant little cherries, which are quite smart, but also a little bit fun. I love the fastenings, too, since there's no chance of them falling out.
PolkadotPancake
Another fun name, I really like this seller because her shipping is super-fast, and I like her stuff, but I do have a few qualms.

Nerdy scrabble bracelet!
I love this, but, I'm a little disappointed that the D tile is varnished, and the others aren't. As a result, they're paler and the letters on them have started to fade. I'm going to need to get some varnish and try and touch them up and varnish them to stop it from getting worse.
I also bought a pair of lego earrings from this shop which I adored, unfortunately, I put them in as soon as I got them, then set off to work. During my 10 minute bus-trip and walk to work, at some point, one of them fell out, and got lost. I didn't realise until I got to work, and was pretty gutted that I'd lost one instantly. Still, if your earrings fall out in 10 minutes, shouldn't you sell them with plastic caps on the ends? Or buy better hooks?

One of the things I like about this girl is that all the stuff in her shop - even if it's the same item listed again, has a different, interesting name. It reminds me of the way I name blog posts and it makes her shop quite fun to browse. She sells elasticated Lego bracelets in a variety of colours.

Lego: Build the rainbow.
I wear this with my scrabble bracelet every day, I love it. I was worried it'd be tight and uncomfortable, but it's big enough to fit my wrist without the sharp blocks digging in. My only little niggle is that where the photo has a purple block, and the listing said purple, it's actually very clearly pink in reality. A nice pink though, so I don't mind at all.
That's all for Etsy, for now, but there's a lot more on my wishlist. This last little purchase didn't come from Etsy, but from Grindstore.com

Yes, dangly space invader earrings! With little guns underneath the invaders. The picture's super-blurry, but these are really bright and quite big, and it's another thing I've gotten a lot of compliments on. I love the earrings, but I really don't like Grindstore.
They charged me £3.50 shipping to send my item through regular royal mail, and I mean, seriously, look how heavy that earring could possibly be, wow. It took ages to arrive, and when it did, inside they'd included a leaflet about a sale they were having... which ended a month ago. Then why even tell me? Like "Hey, if you'd ordered this a month ago you could've saved 70%!" Great, thanks, I'll just hop in my handy time machine.
Considering the wealth of fun, cheap, geeky jewelery I can get on Etsy, I don't think I'll shop from Grindstore again. They sell too much Twilight junk, anyway.

Those hello kitty in cabbage are amazing! I HAD to check out her shop...I ended up getting some cell phone charms. One of them is a sea turtle HK riding on a manatee! So kawaii, I love it!

Aren't they cute? She did HK in Asparagus and garlic too, eee. Vegetables have never been so cute!

7 September 2009 15:08You don't wear earrings Jessica? My favourite jewellery item at the moment is bracelets, I like that they jangle, and I don't wear necklaces often since I'm always wearing my metal collar.
7 September 2009 15:08I wish I could wear earings!!
9 September 2009 16:54Hi!
16 October 2009 15:36Thanks so much for supporting handmade and featuring our jewelry. I just wanted to mention that the scrabble tiles we use are upcycled. We find them at junk stores and other places, and we use them as they are. None of those tiles had been varnished by us, so whatever fade occurred has occurred naturally over time.
Also, you're right about the earring backs. That is something new we have recently started including with all our earrings. Sometimes it takes a few mistakes to get things right :]
Thanks again!
