Not quite as dirty as the title suggests. I've been raving about my new favourite mascara combination for a while, and have finally gotten around to chronicling its effects for you.
There's a before-and-after, so you can see how quite nonexistent my stubby lil' lashes are.
Estée Lauder lash primer +
Bourjois Liner Effect mascara +
Lancome Virtuose mascara =

No make-up on there aside from the lashes, sorry for the scare.
This is my favourite combination to date. It doesn't look like much there, but it looks really nice in person, all the lashes are really fanned out, black black and have good curl - without curling - that lasts all day, whereas some mascaras make my lashes droop after a while.

Don't mind the messiness, I don't do lip-liner so it got a bit smudgy!
(Plus, the ring's hard to work around)

The title said various, so the other bit is my lips. A close-up of the lips from the previous look, just to show off my lip-ring, because I haven't, yet.

I've had the piercing for about three months, now, and love it to death. I got it done on a whim, and whilst I don't regret it at all, it was terribly unpleasant to have done, so I'm very glad I got it over with! A lot of people have asked me how I put lipstick on (just wiggle it about a bit) and whether it feels weird, but you get used to it really quickly. The only annoyance is when the ball pops out on its own and it still takes me ages to try and pry the damn thing back in again.
I've no more piercings planned, as, personally, I don't like more than one facial piercing, but I am mulling over a tattoo...

Wow, that lash combo makes a HUGE difference. Which product do you feel does the majority of the work?
8 July 2009 05:05It's hard to say, Jess. The primer helps, but I think ANY primer would do it, so any lash primer at all would work. On their own, Liner effect and virtuose leave much to be desired, but using them in that exact order, liner effect fans out the lashes and adds length, as well as depositing pigment near the lash base for the "liner effect". But, on its own, it looks a bit thin and doesn't have any lift. Adding virtuose thickens out the lashes, makes them fan even more, and adds the curl and lift.
8 July 2009 05:09I'll try it with actually curling my lashes one of these days. I do think it's a tie between Liner Effect and Virtuose. Virtuose has the unusually shaped brush which is perfect for lifting and curling, but Liner Effect makes a lovely fan... on the bottom, I just use the liner effect without primer or virtuose, otherwise my lower lashes get too long.
I like the lip ring :)
8 July 2009 19:43I thought about getting a centered, close fitted lip ring (with no ball), but I figured since I love to wear lipgloss and lipstick it would be annoying for me.
I got my nose done back in January and love it. I wish I'd gotten it done sooner. I can change the piercing now pretty easily, but it still isn't fully healed, because cartilidge piercing seem to take forever to pierce. I've also had 3 holes in each ear (down to 1 in each) and my belly button pierced twice (first one a drunk girl ripped out, not fun).
I've contemplated a few other piercings, specifically below the belt :P
I've also been contemplating a tattoo for 3 years now, so I think it's safe to say I'll like it if I can get through the process of getting it done.
What do you want to get done?
That mascara combo is amazing, it really makes a great difference.
8 July 2009 20:10I like your piercing. I would love to get one too or a tattoo but instead I don't even have earring holes because I'm scared of the pain. I'm such a wimp, I know!
@ Phyrra - I hear nose piercings heal up really quickly if you take them out, so you have to wait much longer than usual for them to take.
8 July 2009 20:54Luckily my lip's all fine now and it didn't swell or anything, although sometimes I wish I'd had it central so I could get a labret stud as well. It'd look weird with a side-ring but labret stud.
Tattoo-wise, I really want a mint-green bow with little white polkadots on the inside of my wrist, with the ribbon behind it running around like a bracelet. I'm still thinking about it, though, like you I certainly don't want to rush into anything so permanent!
@ Gio - Awh babe, I was the same way. My mother made me have my ears pierced when I was little, so I didn't have a say in that. The guy numbed my lip when he pierced it, which is why I went for it, but it was still unpleasant.
8 July 2009 20:57It didn't hurt so much, it stung a bit, but it's more the sensation of someone shoving a spike through your lip which is all membranes and stuff which is just vastly unpleasant.
I love the mascara combo too, it looks even better in person! Funny 'cause alone the mascaras aren't that great.
Oh, I got my nose done with no numbing. It hurt a bit but didn't bother me. What bothered me was when they shoved the jewelry in. That hurt!
8 July 2009 21:00The bow sounds cute. This girl that I absolutely adore has tattoos on both of her wrists, her chest, and her lower back. It's a light brown color and looks gorgeous on her skin.
I want this, probably in black or dark turquoise no black outline, as a tramp stamp.

That sounds so cute, you'd really suit a tattoo. I want a little bow 'cause then I'd be a present! =D
8 July 2009 21:09Maybe I'll draw up what I want sometime. I'd designed a lot of tattoos for people, and done a lot of body art for themed nights out when I was living in Uni halls. I once painted a 5-inch long succubus around a girl's upper arm with flames and stuff for her devil costume.
You're brave to have it without numbing, I was way too much of a chicken.
I don't think they actually offer numbing most places here in Florida, or anywhere that I know of. None of my piercings were ever numbed.
8 July 2009 21:12I think the idea of you as a present is cute :)
You should totally draw up what you want!
Haha I will. I want it to look quite flat and stylised, not all 3D and shaded. Like maybe a grey outline instead of black.
8 July 2009 21:15I went to 3 places, and asked if anyone numbed them anymore and the first 2 said no. On a whim I thought I'd just check the 3rd, which looked a bit more dodgy and smaller, but the guy said they numbed the whole area and I was like, SOLD!
Lol!
8 July 2009 21:16I wonder why most places don't numb?
I don't know! They so should. My personal ethos is if I'm gonna shove a spike through part of me I want that part of me to be numbed!
8 July 2009 21:19I guess nowadays people with piercings aren't wimps like me (and Gio!)
I wish my mum had made me have my ears pierced when I was little too so now I could be wearing earrings, which I love.
9 July 2009 17:24But she wanted to me to decide when I was grown up whether I wanted my ears pierced or not. So now that I want them I'm too scared.
People keep telling me that it doesn't hurt and that they numb you but I don't like the thought of a spike piercing me. I'm just not convinced that will not hurt at all.
Ears are OK, they have a thing that looks a bit like a stapler. It kinda just staples the stud right into your ear.
9 July 2009 17:28It's over in less than a second, and the jewelery is already in. I had mine numbed and it didn't hurt, it's just the shock/sensation of it that's off putting.
It stung afterwards when I walked home because it was windy, and cold wind + new piercing = ouchies.
But you should go for it. If a kid can handle it without kicking up a fuss, you will. You'll wonder why you waited.
To be honest, I think I could handle the pain, but it's the thought of something piercing me that puts me off big time.
10 July 2009 17:46I know I should just get over it and do it, and maybe then I would become more adventurous and have my nose pierced too, but I just can't bring myself to do it. :(
