I picked up the new Sleek Safari iDivine palette t'other day. It's very brown-and-yellow, and I hadn't expected to like it that much, or expected the yellowy gold shades to suit me, but, as ever with Sleek, was pleasantly surprised.
Sleek iDivine Safari Palette.
Swatches, dry, natural light.
In particular, the palest shade on the bottom row (2nd from the left) looks white, but is the most gorgeous shimmery pale shade, perfect as a more dramatic highlight colour. The four browns and neutrals on the right side of the palette I love, too, as the shimmer is really rich and metallic. This palette seems like a more dramatic, interesting incarnation of their previous Storm palette. Perfect for those of you who want a little colour but aren't huge bright fans.Going out on a limb, for me, I did a yellowy-goldy leopard print look with this palette.
It's A Jungle Out There: Step-by-Step
Close up! This is the eye hidden by my fringe, spots came out better.
This one came out over exposed or something, it was an annoying,
bad-cam day where every one came out blurry and grr.
Eyes
- Prime the lids with primer, a neutral paint pot, I used MAC Cream Colour base in Luna.
- Using a MAC 239 brush, pack on the yellowy gold shade from the Safari Sleek palette all over the lid, blending it out above the crease and out past the outer-V.
- Using the same brush, I applied BftE mineral eyeshadow in Beam over the lid as well, because it's a bit more metallicy and just made this pop more.
- Using a crease brush (217) darken the crease with the copper (top row, 2nd from right) and blend this out lightly over the crease and over the outer-V.
- Darken the crease more with the brown (bottom row, far right) and make it more defined by not blending it up toward the brow-bone.
- Using a black liquid liner (anything that dries quickly and won't run, I used a cheap Collection 2000 one, but the Sleek ones work really well too) line the top lid, then draw on leopard spots over the edge of the lid and outer-V. Be as conservative or wild as you like, leopard spots are deceptively easy to draw, and you can always look up a reference picture on google to help you, or practice on your hand first.
- Using a thin brush (MAC 209) fill in the spots with the copper (top row, 2nd from right). When this is done, brush the same copper under the lower lashline.
- Highlight using the pretty pale shimmery shade (bottom row, 2nd from the left).
- Line the waterline with a black pencil, and apply mascara.
- Apply Avon Ultra Colour Rich Mousse lipstick in Delicate Pink, apply MAC Blankety lipstick over the top and finish off with MAC lipglass in Underage.

A lot of people in the US have been dying to get their hands on these palettes. In my quest to secure the widely sold out Acid palette for Jen, I found the most amazing eBay sellers who gave the best customer service I've ever experienced online. I highly recommend them.
They held off on listing a palette for me for a fortnight while I waited to get paid so I could afford it, despite selling over 10 of the same palette in one day, and they turned down my offer to pay double for it, refusing to accept any extra money from me. So, they held it for me, denying themselves an earlier sale, and wouldn't let me give them anything for the trouble!
They sell a lot of Sleek stuff at a tiny mark-up from the store (30p more for palettes) but they're great and will ship internationally. If you want something by Sleek they don't have listed, drop them a line and I'm sure they'll do their best to help, they're really incredible!
Check them out here for all your Sleek needs!

OMG I love this look!
15 July 2009 00:08I found a look with leopard spots a while ago that I'd been hanging on to for inspiration:

But wow, yours is a million times better! I have GOT to try this.
I'm such an animal print fan, but I usually only have it as an accent, like on throw pillows. It's so cool to see it used in a makeup look.
A MILLION? Wow, that's a mighty big compliment.
15 July 2009 02:38Just get some liquid liner and have a go, leopard spots are freakishly easy. I always saw those looks and was like "Wow", but really, much easier than it looks.
I can't WAIT to see you with it, it'd totally suit you.
I have liquid liner, but I would probably just end up wanting to use my gel liner, or my MAC blackground paint pot. It's creamy and nice.
15 July 2009 02:47I did one with gel liner but found I preferred something a bit quicker and thinner, gel was a bit too stodgy for me for this.
15 July 2009 02:50I have black mac liquidlast liner but that stuff is such a pita to get off :P
15 July 2009 02:52A... pita? Like a pitta bread? *Confused*
15 July 2009 02:54Man the LAST thing you want is to go out with this look and have it smudge across your face :S
pita - pain in the ass
15 July 2009 02:58Oh! Darn, my nub is showing :[
15 July 2009 02:59that look is ABSOLUTELY gorgeous and you pull it off! :D
15 July 2009 03:18Gleee! Thank you :D It's one of those things where I'm like "is this nice? I think it's nice. Is it really nice or do I just think it is? Is this like, an Emperor's New Clothes thing where I think it looks nice but then I go outside and everyone laughs at me and thinks I have eyebrow tumors?"
15 July 2009 03:22ana i'm usually not an animal prints kinda person but omg i LOVE LOVE LOVE this the leopard spots are so gorgeous! i was so excited to see a new post from you when i got home from a long, miserable, seemingly never-ending day at the office.
15 July 2009 03:30Awwh! Poor Jenjen. *Cuddle* Do not be sad, Jenjen. I have another EOTD lined up, another in the Guild Wars series but I haven't edited the ugly out of the pictures yet. I used false lashes in it for the first time toooooo.
15 July 2009 03:32I'll hop on over to your blog now and wiggle to entertain you :3
Ana I saw no wiggling!
15 July 2009 03:54I'm excited to see you in the falsies, and of course to check out this AMAZING Guild Wars look you've promised me!
I really should be in bed now as I'm exhausted but I need to blog. What to do, what to do...
You should log on AIM and talk to me! You're the only person on my friends' list T_T
15 July 2009 03:57Awww Ana well you're one of the two people on mine! I love chatting with you! I'm off to bed for tonight though without blogging =X. Hopefully I can wake up early enough tomorrow morning to squeeze in a few posts before I have to leave for work.
15 July 2009 04:20Sleep well hun :3 You blogged plenty today, you're allowed to sleep.
15 July 2009 04:22I'm working on the other EOTD to have it up by morning x]
Ana, I LOVE LOVE LOVE this palette and your look. You look so pretty. I can't wait to get my hands on one of these. I'm still upset about the Acid palette. Oh well but I am favoriting the ebay seller. Just for the future. :O)
15 July 2009 08:08This look is so pretty. I'm not usually a fan of animal prints but you did a great job!
15 July 2009 16:10That seller was very nice, I hope she'll have some safari palettes on sale soon. I didn't expect to like this palette much but the colors look beautiful, esp the greens. And I desperately need some neutral colors, I though I had lots of them but turns out I only have like 2 or 3 :(
Wow!!! You make such PRETTY looks. Ho9w long you been doing this?
16 July 2009 15:20@ T.R. - Thanks hon! I'll pick up a Safari palette for you if I can tomorrow, it's paydaaaaay tomorrow! They had lots when I got mine ;x
16 July 2009 18:34@ Gio - Thanks! I'm not really an animal print fan either, but I admit I do like this.
@Choochie - Well thank you! I've been into makeup since June last year, so just over one year. Before that I'd only ever worn foundation (no moisturiser, no primer, no brushes!) and one eyeshadow in like, brown, that was super cheap and crappy. I didn't even wear mascara or lipstick!
Thanks Ana, and of course let me know the costs. I soooo appreciate your little exchange rate link. I always come here to check it when I want to buy something. :O) Either ebay or someplace else. LOVE IT.
16 July 2009 22:54Hahaha! I've thought of actually commissioning a programmer to make me one that fits the site better and doesn't have the yucky adverts on it.
