The second installment of my Sleek iDivine Palette review, this review will look at the palettes Storm and Original. See the review for the remaining palette, Chaos here.
Price: £4.49 each
Where From?: Superdrug Stores
Look & Feel: 5/5
Quality: 4/5
Value: 5/5
What It Is:
iDivine is an eyeshadow palette of 12 1.1g mineral-based eyeshadow cakes. (That's more than the Urban Decay Deluxe Eyeshadow Palette for £20 - $40) for £4.49 each. They come in 3 colour selections - Chaos, a set of brightly coloured vibrant shades with matte finish; Original, a selection of colourful and subtle neutral shades with a shimmery finish; Storm, a rather unique selection of subtle neutrals which has both matte and shimmery finishes.
Each palette comes in a sleek black case, with a hinged lid, large mirror on the inside (built into the reverse of the lid) and a double-ended sponge-tipped applicator.
What I Love About It:
The packaging is pretty, to my tastes. It's a nice sleek black matte case with the word "Sleek" across it in a shinier finish. The case is hinged with a huge mirror on the reverse of the lid, which is great because it means you have a wide angled mirror you can use to apply with. The applicator that comes with it is rather robust, but I prefer to use my own brushes.
Inside, the eyeshadows are bigger than in other palettes in the same price range, as they're 2cm in diameter and 1.1g each. The Original palette has a really gorgeous selection of shades, from bright colours (but not neon) to subtle neutrals. Even the brightest colours are wearable if you only like neutrals, to add a little colour kick to any subtle look. Each of these shades has a lovely shimmery finish, which I love because I find it MUCH easier to blend shimmer eyeshadows than matte. Check out the swatches:

See an EOTD I did using this Original palette here.
The Storm palette has a selection of more subtle neutral shades, pinks, neutrals and browns and deep jewel-colours. Some of the eyeshadows in this palette have a shimmery finish, but some have a matte finish. I like this, as it's the only palette I've seen which has a mixture of both finishes, although I do prefer shimmer. I don't like this palette quite as much, because I personally prefer really bright looks, but it'd be perfect for someone after a subtle palette with a little kick and variety.

A blurry look I did with the Storm palette
The eyeshadows go on well, and blend easily without losing their strong pigmentation (shimmer moreso than matte), they're very pigmented, all the swatches just used one swipe of my finger. Unlike some eyeshadows, it's easy to get a lot of it on your brush, so I worried that they may break up easily, as I break a lot of eyeshadows. However, after dropping my first palette about 5 times on a hard wooden floor, and it not having a scratch, I'm pretty sure these are unbreakable!
Finally, the price. At £4.49 each these are less than half the price of one MAC eyeshadow single, and three times cheaper than a MAC pigment. This palette is bigger than the Urban Decay palettes, and a less than a quarter of the price. Absolute bargain, and a fantastically frugal way of getting more colours in your collection.
What I Hate About It:
Absolutely diddly squat. If I changed anything, I'd simply make this more readily available, especially in the US.
Is It Really Worth It?:
Absolutely. For £4.49 each, there's no excuse for not collecting all 3!

One of the things I like about Storm is that if you have it handy, you can do any smokey-eye look on top of a bright colour or whatever, and you can use some of the shades in it for brow/highlight colours if you don't have a brow kit handy.
22 September 2008 21:27Kayvid(MUA): Hi, I always see your comments on Jen's ABS blog and thougth I'd drop by. Loving your blog. And I find it very hard to believe that each of these palettes is ofor 4.49 pounds? Is that true? Wow! I would love, love, love to get these...Do you know if they are available online?
25 September 2008 18:52Hey Kayvid!
25 September 2008 19:58I always see your comments, too! Haha. The palettes are indeed £4.49 each, and really good quality for the cash. I did the newest EOTD Green Ivy with the Original palette, too.
Where do you live? They are purchasable online, but the only site I've found so far that does it doesn't ship outside of the UK. The company's own website is still under construction.
I'm happy to get shipping estimates and send them to people at cost-price providing I can cover the 10% PayPal fee.
Oooh, sounds good. I stay in the US. Zipcode 27703. Can you tell me the estimate? Maybe email me at kayvid1@gmail.com
